I'm too afraid to train Abs and Hamstrings...

Post by Jozifp103 »

I've posted before about how excruciating it is for me to train abs due to cramping. Well this cramping is not limited to my abs only. It happens in just about every muscle I train. The difference is I can tolerate the pain when most other muscles cramp up and I can usually avoid it if I feel it coming. For example, if I feel my triceps starting to do that pre-cramp tremble I know to bend my arms and not let them straighten until it subsides. If my calves start to feel tight, I know to pull my toes up and not point them. If my biceps start to go, I know to just straighten out my arms and not let them bend.

With abs there's nothing I can do. When my abs start to tremble I try to arch my back and stretch my mid section out but the cramp inevitably pulls me back in and sucks me into a fetal position.

With hamstrings there's nothing I can do either. It happens too instantaneously for me to have any chance to combat it with stretching. And the worst part is...it happens WHILE I'M DOING LEG CURLS! I'll literally cramp up mid rep and be stuck with weight pulling at my hamstring. While it tries to remain contracted the weight tries to pull it apart causing excruciating pain and muscle tears. I've only torn it once and that was enough to traumatize me for years. Then I tried it again and was ok for a short while but then it happened again mid-set and I had to pull off the most awkward, painful maneuver to escape the machine before my hamstring tore. I'm terrified to do leg curls or any hamstring exercise now.

I'm convinced I have some sort of nutrient deficiency...whether it be potassium, magnesium, etc. I've tried all the supplements, [potassium (or bananas), magnesium, taurine, etc.] alone and in different doses/combos with no luck.

Not really looking for advice, mainly venting lol. But definitely don't hesitate if you do have something helpful to share.
