(Discussion) Why do you juice?....the hidden reasons - a dive into your psyche

Kind of a strange topic, but I tend to believe that a lot of people that cycle do it for other reasons than "they just wanna be big". When I was in college I did a sociology report where I conducted anonymous interviews with steroid users, and read into the history of some famous known steroid users. I noticed that most of them had some kind of back story that seemed to link to the reasoning for them using steroids. Whether it be bullying, abuse, sexual abuse, insecurity, drug abuse, etc.

This led me to look into my own reasoning...

While my reasoning may not be as extreme as some,...I discovered the reasons deep in my subconscious for my steroid use, that I didn't even realize were there.

I was always a small, skinny, goofy kid. Always had aggression. I had to overcompensate with aggression for my lack of size and strength. Very typical angry 90's teenager type situation.

I watched my mother date a few guys...some who were real assholes to her in front of me and even pushed her around a bit. My parents got divorced when I was 2 so I have no anger or negative feelings towards that because I have no memory of it. My dad was always in the picture. Him and my mom worked together very well to still be great parents after the divorce.

I also had a sister 2 years younger who would bring home scumbag after scumbag. She'd come home with bruises, she got into drugs, etc etc. Having a single mom and a younger sister...I'm supposed to be the protector. Every time I'd confront one of my sisters boyfriends I'd get my ass handed to me...and they were 2 years younger. It got to me that I was 130 lb wimp who couldn't even protect my family.

My dad dabbled in prohormones and steroids a bit in college but was always a naturally big guy, 5'11" 230-260 lbs (fluctuates lol), & super broad shoulders. He was strong as an ox. He would always make us laugh by doing the pec dance and pretending to flex and pose while doing his Arnold impression. I always saw my dad as superman and wanted so bad to look like him. I was always told "someday you're gonna fill out kid. You got your father's genes." Well, turns out I don't have his genes lol. I maxed out at 155 lbs in college before I started lifting.

I started lifting at 19....packed on a good 40lbs (thank god for unlimited college meal plans and free college gym). But I plateaued. Still wasn't big enough to scare people (which is what I wanted to do)...and gains were slowing wayy down. So at 23 I ran my first cycle...and life has improved tenfold ever since.

I'm now in my 30's sitting at 6' - 235 lbs - 15ish% bodyfat...and goddammit people respect me lol.

If anyone would like to share their hidden reasons for cycling...I'd love to hear it. This thread my be a flop....but I found it interesting that sometimes you don't even realize the real reason motivating your life decisions.

Loved training since started, but always had DOMS..
When i started doing some heavy lifts, especialy leg workout i could barely move for a week from such pain, so i checked some ways to go around it, tried testosterone and it helped alot.
I started cycling because i was already using test, and was already not natural, why not make a propper cycle?
I normally cycle then go pct and stop for some months so the receptors get clean, and start over to make more volume.

Steroids are not addicted , but bodybuilding is an image sport and we all know that when we stop using them we get smaller, weaker and this is the main reason we dont stop using it ( addiction )
If your focus is a beach body , maximum 15 pounds over your height you can go off and keep almost all you got it on cycle , but bodybuilders with almost 100lb over height like me is impossible to keep the gains off cycle. This is a choice you make. If you dream to be freak like me you know you will use them forever, but this only a small percentage . Most of you only need a shreded body and can keep it much more easy.

Getting at least 90-95 kgs while lean is what I am working for.
Can't even think about going giant while working with healthcare, this way people won't think I am not natural (because being lean makes you look small with clothes), and also don't have to abuse food and steroids that might compromise my health long term.

I hear DOMS (actual clinically diagnosed DOMS) is quite agonizing. Many people throw around the term DOMS when referring to simple muscle soreness after training. As I'm sure you know actual DOMS is a medical condition that causes excessive pain and inflammation of muscles. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Do steroids completely mitigate the issue for you?

*Also FYI....androgen receptors do not need to be cleaned out or refreshed. They do not down-regulate or become less responsive to androgens over time....in fact it's quite the opposite. Androgen receptors regenerate in the presence of androgens so they are always fresh and receptive to androgen stimulation :).

I believe steroids can be addicting. Not the same way as opiates for example, but psychologically addicting. We get used to the feeling of being "on" that we forget what it feels like to walk around with natural androgen levels. Even cruising on 200-250mg is putting you at higher levels than you would likely be naturally. I'd be willing to bet if someone who blasted and cruised for several years tried to come off and even managed to get their testosterone back to healthy levels with PCT, they would still feel "off" and immediately get the urge to jump back on. That's the psychological addiction I'm talking about.

Without a doubt they can be mentally addicting, so many chemical messengers sending out signals that make us feel great. The saying that we are all to familiar with "sense of well being", it can't be said any better than that.
Now subtract that feeling from us when it's something that we've strive to feel, a feeling that makes us feel on top of the world, how can that not be addicting? Anything that people embrace and get satisfaction from can easily become something that could be quoted as addictive.

For myself, there is no greater feeling than blasting past PB's watching changes and just feeling good about yourself.
This can also radiate and others see the glow and pick up on the good vibes, if someone is staying in check and not acting like a douche. This can improve the atmosphere at work, social life and even relationships.

Haha the lactic acid days or concerns shall we call it. Now I look at it like pleasure, I welcome the pain, I get into a zone and embrace the process of braking myself down. :D
